PERMANENT COLLECTION, U.S. EMBASSY

During my 15-year tenure at the Office of Art in Embassies, U.S. Department of State, I had the privilege of curating exhibitions and collections for U.S. diplomatic missions in Asia, Africa, Europe, Middle East, and South America. Being the daughter of a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, I learned the importance of cultural diplomacy at a young age and loved interacting with U.S and host country artists. One of my favorite projects was putting together the art collection for the Embassy in Oslo, which included a four year partnership with Bennington College, Vermont. Over the course of a yearlong curriculum, a cross-disciplinary team of students and faculty researched and created a tripartite work titled Arctic Shift. With a focus on climate change, the dynamic commission poetically interpreted the Arctic Circle and the eight member countries of the Arctic Council through sculpture, landscaping, and complexity graphics.
